Next, we will make our way to the most popular olive oil producers in the peninsula and we will learn about the processing method of olives, starting from harvesting to the bottling of olive oil. We will also get the chance to see old equipments, which in the pre-industrial era was used to serve locals to manufacture olive oil traditionally. The olive-growing is deeply rooted in the Istrian tradition and dates back well to 2000 years ago. Until now, the peninsula can be proud of 11 indigenous olive types, from which the world’s highest quality olive oil is produced. Istria is a wonder of the world when it comes to cultivating this plant. It is the only one far-stretched northern region in the whole world, where the olives grows. These olive trees, growing under the Istrian sun, absorb mild climate of the region and the fine olive oil, with specific taste and aroma, enhances the flavours of each dish. Following the presentation, we will taste different types of olives along with local sides.
