Our adventure with Lake Skadar starts from Virpazar, a small, charming town situated at the riverbank. At about 10 o’clock, you will enjoy a few-hour cruise. On a boat, we will be served with refreshments, i.e. rakija and ‘uštipci’ – small fritters that are the local specialty. After one hour will be spent admiring the panoramic view of small islands along with the remnants of fortresses from the Turkish times that used to serve as the lake’s defensive system, you will stop at one of the near beaches for sunbathing. Our landscapes will be enriched with the view of different bird species; herons, wild ducks, pelicans, great cormorants as well as beautifully blossoming lotus flowers and water chestnuts covering the water surface. An interesting sightseeing point is also the Montenegrin Alcatraz – Grmožur Island, on which King Nicholas had built a prison for ‘thinking differently’ political prisoners. After about one and the half hour relaxation, you will head for dinner towards Virpazar. Here, you will be welcomed with specialties, such as freshwater fish and sides (vegetables, bread, potatoes – in the form of a buffet). Our tour will end at about 3:00 p.m.
