Kotor is one of the most beautiful Montenegrin coastline towns. It is located at the heart of Boka Kotorska, at the foothills of Lovćen Mountains. The turbulent history of the town affects its present look and has left numerous historic sites. Therefore, the town was listed as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The defensive walls, which for hundreds of years defended the town and its inhabitants, today forms an inseparable symbol of the place. The narrow alleys, numerous historic sites, restaurants, cafés and small shops with souvenirs make this town even more special. Boka Kotorska itself, to which Kotor belongs, was recognised as one of the 25 most beautiful fiords in the world in 2000.
