We invite you to an unforgettable panoramic cruise across the largest Istria Peninsula bay. The Lim bay is famous for its most abundant natural environment in the region. The Lim name originates from the Latin limes, which means a border. In the past, it separated two provinces of the then Roman Empire – current cities of Pula and Poreč. The canal’s length is about 12km, and the depth reaches up to 30m. From both sides, picturesque hills covered with abundant Mediterranean plants stretch out wide. Within the area, St. Romuald from Ravenna lived in a cave at the end of the canal. As he could not come to terms with the promiscuous lives of his Benedictine brothers, he chose to live in isolation. He is commemorated on 19.06, on his death anniversary in 1027.
In the 50s, the ‘Vikings’ film was shot there with Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis in the main role. The film is based on sagas on a legendary hero, Ragnar Lodbrok (Old Norse: RagnarrLoðbrók), and his sons. During the cruise, we will have a chance to admire the magnificent panoramic views and we will visit the pirates’ cave also called Saint Romulad’s cave). Today, it is a settlement of a rare type greater mouse-eared bat species (Myotis myotis). From this point, we will be able to admire the beauty of the region.
