We invite you to an unforgettable tour of one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Croatia. Stretching along the Makarska Riviera, Biokovo is one of the highest mountain ranges located along the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. Its steep and bare hills overlook the crystal clear waters of the sea and fascinate holidaymakers. Due to its biodiversity the Biokovo region became a natural reserve in 1985. Endemic plants, chamois and mouflon are some of the natural treasures of this region. We will set out by minibus from Makarska Riviera to the park and will then make our way to the Sky Walk towards the glass observation deck situated in the south-west of the range, at an altitude of 1,228m. The Sky Walk was opened on 1st July 2020 and has been one of the biggest EU-funded projects in Croatia. Here we will have a chance to admire breathtaking views of the sea, mountains and the Makarska Riviera. And with some luck, we might even be able to see the eastern coast of Italy and of the Gargano region in the distance.
After a short break we will climb the highest mountain in southern Dalmatia and the second-highest peak in Croatia, namely Saint George, at 1,762m above sea level, which proudly overlooks the Riviera. The green, continental part of Croatia – Zagora –on the one hand, and the raw, stone part of the land on the other, will remain etched on our memory. This view will satisfy even the most demanding eye. After this wonderful experience we will make our way to the coast to visit the biggest town in the Riviera –Makarska. It is also the most established tourist centre of this part of the coast. Due to its attractive location between the mountains and the sea, it attracts lots of tourists on an annual basis. It is famous for its pebble beaches, crystal clear sea and vibrant nightlife, a wide range of apartments and hotels as well as its central location, which makes it a convenient base from which one can explore the central and southern Dalmatia as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will have a chance to walk along the promenade and see the most interesting landmarks. In the spare time we will have a chance to try some delicious ice cream or enjoy a cup of coffee with the view on the sea and the Dalmatian islands.
