GRAPE HARVESTING AND THE MOST SPECTACULAR SUNSET OVER THE ADRIATIC

We will start our adventure with the fairy-like scenery of the hills, amongst the vineyards with the magnificent view over the Adriatic, the island of the Zadar Archipelago, and Zadar. Initially, we will learn about the history of the vineyard and cultivating the grapevine, which is deeply rooted in the Croatian tradition and dates back to about 2500 years ago. Croatia is a country that has a very developed vineyard culture and everyone knows and appreciates its wine quality. Most of the wine has always been consumed during family celebrations and friend gatherings, accompanied by singing and lots of fun at all times. Whilst listening to the stories on the cultivation tradition, we will be served with wine rosé aperitif. Following this interesting introduction, we will head to the vineyard to harvest the grapes. Equipped with scissors, cases and good humour,  we will have the chance to become true growers of this noble plant. But watch out – boredom is not an option! After the completed harvest, the grapes will be weighed and the winner will be announced. The winner will be awarded a bottle of exquisite Croatian wine. What an attraction and motivation!

As a reward for such a successful harvest, we will all be served with a well-deserved Dalmatian style dinner, obviously with a glass of fine wine.

At the end of the programme, we will visit Zadar, one of the most charming cities in northern Dalmatia. The historical Old Town full of picturesque, narrow streets, historical churches, palaces of noble families and shops with colourful souvenirs attract thousands of tourists from all over the world each year. Whilst strolling down the narrow streets of the Old Town, we will sense the spirit of the long history, dating back to ancient times. The look of the city was certainly influenced by the times of the Republic of Venice, which left precious monuments, amongst others, fortresses that are on UNESCO list.  A licensed guide will show us the most exciting monuments of the city and will talk through its interesting, yet turbulent history. Our adventure will end on the promenade whilst listening to the sounds of the Sea Organs and admiring – as Alfred Hitchcock used to say – the most beautiful sunset in the world.

The programme includes:

– A visit to the vineyard with the history on winemaking.
– Rosé wine aperitif.
– Grape harvesting, including a wine bottle reward for the winner for the best harvesting.
– Dinner; fishor meat menu, a glass of wine for dinner.
– A licenced guide in Zadar.
