Budva is one of the oldest towns on the Montenegrin coastline and alongside one of the most popular summer seaside resorts. Over 2500 years ago, a settlement was founded on a small island, which is today’s old town situated on the tip of the land further deep in the sea. It is the biggest historic site of the city. The old churches, narrow passages with houses made of stone, Orthodox churches and Middle Age defensive walls form a contrast with the modernist part of the city. The modern nature is provided by countless clubs, restaurants, cafés, stalls with souvenirs and events in the fresh air. Budva is one of the resorts, which can also boast with the most beautiful sandy beaches, stretching for kilometres along there Budva Riviera. The town is often defined by Dubrovnik miniature and it is the town of millionaires, due to its exclusive hotels that are scattered across the whole area and surround the historic town centre.
