We will take you on an unforgettable adventure with Neretva. During the panoramic cruise, we will enjoy the magnificent views and the abundant flora and fauna of the region. The Neretva River is one of the longest rivers of the Balkan Peninsula. Its estuary is in the Bosnian and Herzegovinian mountains, above 1000m. At some points, it flows through the canyon, forming numerous bends. On the Croatian side where it flows into the Adriatic Sea, it becomes a vast reservoir – a delta of 20,000ha. This area is particularly significant in terms of ornithology, as it has the largest concentration of birds in Europe, covering over 300 species. The delta is home to many species of fish, both freshwater and seawater fish. The most common species is eel, and it has become the delta’s symbol and a true delicacy at local restaurants. The delta itself is also an important agricultural area in Croatia. This is where different types of vegetables and fruit are grown – the most commonly spread is the cultivation of tangerines. According to some sources, about 1.5 million tangerine trees are grown here. Due to the mild climate within the region, which is similar to the Californian climate, it is often defined as ‘the Croatian California’. As part of the cruise, we will have a chance to cruise through the channels of the Neretva River by antique boats, some of which are over 100 years old. These boats used to serve the locals in the old times to transport people, food, and pets from one bank of the river to another. However currently in summer, there is an organised competition called the boat marathon, which attracts many tourists.
