Omiš is a charming town situated in the very heart of the Central Dalmatia. It is located at the foothills of Mosor and Biokovo mountains, which are separated by Cetina River canyon. Its rich and interesting history is connected with its inhabitants, who due to the town’s strategic location, started getting involved with robbing ships, becoming fearsome pirates across the Mediterranean Sea. The two fortresses, Fortica and Mirabella, situated above the neighbouring hills, served as observation posts. Today, they proudly hover above the city and they remind us of its turbulent history. The narrow streets with stone-made houses, churches, palaces with cafés and restaurants as well as shops with colourful souvenirs add charm to this town’s atmosphere. Due to its interesting history, great location and beautiful beaches, the town is very popular for foreign tourists. After the sightseeing, we will make our way onto the panoramic cruise along Cetina River canyon, which is said to be one of the most beautiful Croatian canyons.
